Should the below regulations not to be adhered to, police checking driver’s driving records has the right to prevent tour coach / minibus / bus from continuing the journey (coaches are equipped with a technical trip recorder, which shows driving periods in detail). If driving hours will be exceeded, the coach company could lose their license.

Working time is maximum 56 hours per week. In the course of four consecutive months the average working time including overtimes shall not be more than 48 hours.

Night work – the average working time between 22:00 and 6:00 shall not exceed 10 hours during 24 hours for six consecutive months.

Driving time for two consecutive weeks is maximum 90 hours.

Driving time per week is maximum 56 hours.

Driving time per day is maximum 9 hours (2 times per week may be extended to 10 hrs).

Continuous driving time between two breaks is maximum 4.5 hours.

Break shall be at least 45 minutes after 4.5 hours of driving. Break may be replaced by a break of at least 15 minutes followed by a break of at least 30 minutes.

Furthermore, EU Laws determines break:

  • 30 minutes after 6 working hours, if the working time is more than six hours and less than 9 hours
  • 45 minutes after 6 working hours, if the working time is longer than 9 hours.
  • These breaks can be divided into slots of at least 15 minutes.

Rest between two shifts during every 24 hours after the end of the previous daily rest period, or weekly rest, is necessary to take a minimum of 11 hours rest. Up to 3 times per week it is possible to reduce the res period to a minimum continuous 9 hours. Reduced rest periods may be consecutive. Rest period may be taken in two periods, the first periodmust be continuous period of at least 3 hours and the second period must be an uninterrupted period of at least 9 hours.

Weekly rest period must be at least 45 hours. Rest period may be reduced to 24 hours and the reduction shall be compensated by an equivalent period of rest taken en bloc before the end of the third week following the week in which the period was shortened.
